Comparison Between Previous KONOS Status and Current MELD System

KONOS status MELD system
Status 1 Fulminant hepatic failure without underlying liver disease.Primary non-function within 7 days. Status 1 Fulminant hepatic failure without underlying liver disease. (with hepatic encephalopathy occurred within 8 weeks from the first symptoms, and meet at least one condition out of ventilator care, renal replacement therapy, or INR>2.0) Primary non-function within 7 days. Wilson’s disease patient with fulminant hepatic failure.
Status 2A Patients with chronic liver disease who had a CTP score of ≥10 and meet at least one of the other medical criteria (life-threatening variceal bleeding, refractory ascites/hydrothorax, hepatic encephalopathy, or hepatorenal syndrome), who were hospitalized in an intensive care unit with a life expectancy of <7 days without a liver transplant. Status 2 MELD: 38-40
Status 2B Patients with chronic liver disease who had a CTP score of ≥10, or a CTP score of ≥7 and meet at least one of the medical criteria (life-threatening variceal bleeding, refractory ascites/hydrothorax, or spontaneous bacterial peritonitis). Status 3 MELD: 31-37
Status 3 Patients who have a CTP score of ≥7 without meeting status 2B criteria Status 4 MELD: 21-30
Status 7 Waiting patients without above condition. Status 5 MELD: 6-20
